Our School Advisory Board
David Legge - Chair of the School Advisory Board
David’s day-job is an Independent Software Consultant, with interests in the software itself, building the teams that produce it and the processes they use, also speaking at conferences on these aspects; a highlight was pulling together and launching Cambridge University’s online recruitment website from scratch in 8 months.
David read Engineering at Durham University to Masters level, and went on to gain a PhD in Engineering Researching Telecommunications Networks and AI. He is also a long-standing local Parish Councilor, chairing the Highways Committee; has been a Director of The Phone Cooperative. He has been involved in the School since 2013, becoming the Vice-Chair and then Chair of the School Advisory Board in 2017. Appointed by the Trust, he has a young family with children at CPET’s local schools.
Tonya served on the board of her children’s parent co-operative preschool for 5 years. In addition, when her children transitioned into primary school, she helped with events, fund-raisers, and assisted in their classrooms. She has greatly enjoyed being active in the education of her children. Her participation reinforces the importance her family places on education and her understanding as to what is happening in their schools and classrooms is helpful when they struggle either academically or socially. Her volunteer work has also helped her to grow both personally and professionally. When an opening on the school advisory board at Histon and Impington Junior School became available, it seemed like a natural fit for her with her prior board and education experience. She is looking forward to learning more about the educational system, building relationships within the community, and hopefully making a positive contribution to the school.
She moved to Impington with her family in October 2016. Coming from California, they were all a bit apprehensive about how they would fit into a community in the UK. They were so relieved when everyone they met was kind, friendly, and a bit curious as to why they chose to move here from sunny California. Her three girls have settled nicely into their new schools. Her eldest is at Impington Village College, her middle is at the Junior school, and her youngest is at the Infants school.
