Netball Shield Finals

On Thursday 24th April, a group of Year 6 pupils went to Comberton Village College to take part in the South Cambridge schools netball finals.  The team were playing for the shield and for the possibility of qualifying for the School Games finals in June.

There were 16 teams participating and we were put in Pool A with 7 other teams.  The standard of all the teams was very high as all teams had won the previous two schools competitions so the children had to work very hard in every game.

Our children played brilliantly and won every game in their pool.  They have been practising their shooting and this showed as they were so accurate.

This meant that in our final game we were playing for first place against Swavesey (the winners of Pool B).  The game was highly competitive and very physical.  Our children battled and persevered and started to score goals ending up winning 5-1 and winning the whole tournament.

It was such an achievement for the children as they gave their everything and played extremely well together and were so encouraging of each other throughout.  I was very proud of them all and am excited to take the children to the school games finals in June.

Thank you to all the parents/carers who transported the children to and from the event and who supported.  Thank you to Mrs Thompson for popping along with little Theo to be our cheer squad.

Well done again to all the children, what a lovely afternoon had by all!
