  • Netball matches against Histon and Impington Park Primary School

Tue 21 Oct 2025 Mrs Inman

On Tuesday 21st October, a group of netballers walked to The Brook to play some netball matches.  It was a beautiful day and the children enjoyed an hour of netball matches where they rotated positions and improved their skills while playing competitively. All the children from both schools improved their netball throughout and were excellent sports people.

It was a great event and a huge thank you to The Park for coming to visit us and thank you to Mr Newman and Mr Carminati for helping to organise the event.

  • Dodgeball Festival

Fri 17 Oct 2025 Mrs Inman

On Friday 17th October, a group of students were invited to attend a Dodgeball Festival at Cambourne Village College.  The event consisted of different dodgeball skills-based activities and then dodgeball games against other schools.

The festival was a lot of fun and the children developed their aim, their movement and tactical thinking as well as learning the rules of dodgeball and being able to compete.

Thank you to all the children for being so enthusiastic throughout and thank you so much to all the parents who helped transport the children to and from the venue.

  • Play Leaders in Action

Wed 15 Oct 2025 Mrs Inman

It has been fantastic to see our Play Leaders taking their roles so seriously.  Our Play Leaders had their training recently and have been running games and activities for the children on the playgrounds since.  This game in particular was lovely to watch as it was inclusive and all were having so much fun.  Well done our brilliant play leaders for giving up their time to make sure all children are supported during their breaks.

  • Living Sports Award

Wed 01 Oct 2025 Mrs Inman

We have received our Living Sports Award which will be displayed near the office.  Last year we applied for the Living Sports grant which has funded our new play equipment for lunchtimes, PE resources for lessons, our playground markings and much more.  We completed a comprehensive application to received funding from Living Sport and they were so impressed with our PE offer for the children that we received full funding.

Thank you, Living Sports, for such a generous donation. You have made a big difference.

On Tuesday 1st July 2025, we were lucky enough to secure 10 tickets to go to Wimbledon to watch the tennis. We met at Cambridge North station and took the train and then the tube to Wimbledon itself.  Our tickets were for Court Number 2 and we watched some excellent matches including some upsets when seeded Pegula was beaten by Cocciaretto and Musetti (seeded 7th) lost against Basilashvili.  In addition, we watched Swiatek win against Kudermetova and Shelton winning against Bolt.

  • HIBP Dance Display June 2025

Thu 19 Jun 2025 Mrs Norman

On Wednesday 18th June, our fantastic Dance Club treated the whole school to a spectacular performance on the MUGA.

With the sun shining and smiles all around, the children came together to celebrate the importance of the Arts in our school community. Their showcase featured a wonderful variety of dance styles, including ballet, contemporary, and commercial.

The highlight of the event was an energetic finale – a compilation piece that took us on a journey through dance across the decades. From rock and roll and the hand jive to the twist and Saturday Night Fever, the performance was a joyful celebration of music and movement.

A huge congratulations to all our talented performers for your aspirational and inspiring display. Thank you also to all the parents and carers for your continued support as we couldn’t do it without you!

  • Cambridge and Peterborough Netball school finals

Wed 21 May 2025 Mrs Inman

On Wednesday 21st May, a group of Year 6 children travelled to St Ivo Academy to take part in the Netball Finals for the whole of the Cambridge and Peterborough area.  The children had qualified for this tournament as they won the three previous school and South Cambridge tournaments.

There were 19 schools at the event and it was a very competitive tournament with the standard of netball extremely high.  The teams were split into 5 divisions and completed a round robin against the other schools.  In our Division, we won every game convincingly and were put through to the next round against all the other division winners.

The children had been playing wonderful netball the whole afternoon and stepped up even further when we started the second division.  We were playing against Milton Road, John Claire and St John’s.  The first game against St John’s we unfortunately lost by one goal which was such a shame as we were very evenly matched.  The second game was against John Claire who had beaten all the other teams convincingly.  We played our best netball of the tournament and drew this game 2-2.  The children were fantastic!  Our final game was against Milton Road and we won this game by a number of goals.

These results meant we finished in 3rd place out of the 19 teams.  Myself and the spectators were extremely proud of the children and, what made it all the more special, were the number of umpires who came and spoke to us after our matches to say what a polite and considerate group of children we had.  I totally agree.

Well done to all that took part, a great achievement.

    Mrs Inman
