  • Year 3 and Year 4 Dance Display

Thu 30 Mar 2023 Jeanette Norman

On Tuesday 28th March and Thursday 30th March, our fabulous Year 3 and 4 classes showcased what they have been learning in PE. Year 3 choreographed motifs all about themselves and their names demonstrating how unique we all are. Year 4 choreographed motifs all about how dreams can be magical and that anything is possible.

It really was a magical performance, thank you.

  • Big Schools Tag Rugby Competition 21.3.2023 Great Shelford Rugby Club

    Wed 22 Mar 2023

On Tuesday, HIBPS fielded two mixed teams at the Big Schools Tag Rugby. The players were split across two teams, competing in the Plate and the Cup. Throughout the afternoon, the 22 children in attendance played to the best of their abilities. All the children tried hard throughout, supported each other and were intent on securing tries or their opponents’ tags! At the end of each match, the children showed great sporting behaviour as they initiated the cheers for the opposing side.

In the Plate competition, Lucas, Camilla, Sophia, Finlay, Florence, Lucy, Rosie, Rose, Finch and Nathan were superb, leading to winning scorelines throughout their pool matches. The team played impressively with 5-0, 5-3, 5-1 and 6-2 wins in their matches, which secured them a spot in the final against Swavesey. Parents and carers at the side lines watched on nervously, anxious for them to continue their winning streak; that was just what they did. The team stormed through to a 3-1 triumph to win the Plate.

In the Cup competition, Robert, Lorenzo, Archie, Tom, Henry, James, Erin, Carys, Millie, Mia, Benny and Logan fought superbly well to win all their pool matches against Waterbeach, Meadow, Linton Heights and Swavesey: 6-0, 7-0, 5-1 and 8-3 respectively. Their team efforts won the pool and took them straight into the final against Trumpington Park Primary, where in a close match, which was fraught with tension, they brought home a further nail-biting win - 4:3 - to take the Cup.

At the end of the matches, the delighted children rushed together to celebrate their respective wins. What a superb performance by all the players! A huge thank you goes to Mr Fallon in preparing the children and to the parents and carers, who cheered on from the side lines and took time out to enable the children to play.

  • Sensational Skipping Squad Inspires Schools

Tue 14 Mar 2023 Jeanette Norman

On Tuesday 14th March, our Year 5/6 Skipping Squad performed an energetic, exciting dance and skipping display to our school and The Park Primary School.

During their lunchtime breaks, the children had been working incredibly hard to perfect their skipping skills and their efforts did not disappoint, with a display that was rewarded with clapping and cheering from all the classes who had come to watch. They have also demonstrated many of our school values including respect, teamwork and excellence.

Thank you so much to the parents who gave up their time to walk children to The Park and a huge thank you to all our sensational skippers who made me so proud.

  • Netball Tournament

Tue 07 Mar 2023 Shona Inman

    Netball Tournament

On Tuesday 7th March 2023, a group of Year 6 children attended the second round of the South Cambridgeshire Schools Netball Tournament at Impington Village College.  The first round had already been played this year at Cottenham Village College when both teams won all of their games.

Apart from the initial drama of it snowing heavily when we first arrived, the rest of the tournament was a great success.

We had a Blue and Red team participating in the tournament and both teams played amazingly well and won all of their games by a considerable margin.  The only close game was when the Blue and Read Team played each other and this finished 2-1 to the Blue team.

The children were so enthusiastic throughout the whole event and their netball was superb.

The results will be sent to us in due course and then the highest ranking teams will go on to play against the other highest ranking teams from the different areas for the final competition.

Well done to all the children who participated and thank you to the parents/carers for your support during the event.

  • Big Schools Quick Sticks Hockey Competition 28th February 2023

Mon 06 Mar 2023 Mrs Beal

Histon and Impington Brook Primary fielded two mixed Year 6 teams in the Quick Sticks Hockey competition, with one team playing in the Cup event and the other playing in the Plate. I was so impressed that both teams showed great teamwork, resilience and respect for each other and their competitors. The children played well together with two boys and two girls playing at all times.

In the Cup pool games, the team won each of their matches: 5-0 against Pendragon, 4-0 against Bassingbourn and Linton Heights and then, in the final match, the won 5-1 against Waterbeach, leaving them as pool winners and entering straight into the final against University of Cambridge Primary School (UCPS). Luckily, during the matches, the players were on form with goals being secured by Carys, Benji, Bailey, Erin and with some close shots just shaving the posts from Tom, who with Megan were amazing at defending our leads. The team continued strongly into the final and secured a 2-1 win over UCPS to take the gold medal and win the Cup.

In the Plate pool, the team won their first two matches, 4-0, 6-0 respectively. They then lost the third match 2-1 but immediately came back to win the final match 3-0 putting them into the play off for third place against Swavesey. This was a close match, with Swavesey taking the lead initially going 2 goals up; however, the team did not capitulate under pressure and scored 2 goals to take a well-earned draw and joint third place.

A huge thank you goes to the parents and carers who transported the children to and from the event, and to Mr Fallon for helping prepare the children for today’s matches.
