  • Antarctica Visitor James Miller

Thu 29 Feb 2024 Kelly Piper

On our first day back, Year 2 were lucky enough to be joined by a real life explorer!

James Miller visited to inspire our new topic of learning in History all about adventurers and explorers. He has spent many months in Antarctica, and was kind enough to share lots of photos with the children, and model some of the (many!) layers you have to wear to keep warm. We learnt all about the air which gets trapped in the layers of ice, and how scientists use this to inform them about the air quality hundreds of years ago, and we were lucky enough to get to feel and listen to the ice ourselves!

Thank you so much to Mr Miller for joining us and for bringing our new unit of learning alive with such amazing resources.

    Thank you!

  • Penathlon Event at Cottenham Primary School

Wed 28 Feb 2024 Shona Inman

On Wednesday 28th February 2024, a group of Year 4 children attended a Penathlon club at Cottenham Primary School.  Penathlon comprises of small skill based games to promote participation, coordination and perseverance.  The games include a variation of skittles, target throw, new age curling and basketball.   All four children who attended from HIBPS enjoyed all the games and were extremely positive about their experience.  They represented the school brilliantly and they definitely loved the squash and biscuits afterwards!

Cottenham has an established Penathlon club at their school and this is something we are hoping to replicate.  The positive feedback from the children who attended means we are moving forward with our planning in implementing this provision at HIBPS.

Well done again to the four children who participated and thank you for your enthusiasm.

    Mrs Inman and Miss Hall
