  • Netball Tournament at Cottenham Village College

Tue 31 Oct 2023 Mrs Inman

On Tuesday 31st October 2023, a group of Year 6 children attended a netball tournament at Cottenham Village College.  We entered three teams into the tournament and all the teams played four games.  The second round of the tournament will take place next year at Impington Village College where the teams will finish the round robin rotation so they have played all the teams entered.  The points will then be collated and the teams with the most points will progress to the School Games Finals.

On Tuesday, each team played brilliantly.  The effort and enthusiasm the children displayed was fantastic.  They improved so much as the evening progressed and their passing, marking and shooting was excellent.  The teams won all their games apart from only two where they faced tough opponents and lost both by just one goal.

Well done to all the children who participated, they are all excited for the next round.  Thank you to all the parents/carers and grandparents who helped transport the children to and from the tournament and supported them while playing.

  • Outdoor Adventure Activity Comberton Village College Thursday 5th October

Thu 05 Oct 2023 Shona Inman

On Thursday 5th October 2023, a group of 10 children from Year 3/4 attended an Outdoor Adventure event at Comberton Village College.  The afternoon consisted of five different activities which focused on teamwork and perseverance.

The first activity was The Vortex which involved the children trying to figure out the direction of travel they needed to take through the hoops using trial and error and most importantly their memory and concentration.  The second activity was Sports Bingo where the children had to find the sports hidden beneath the cones.  The third activity (which was the favourite for most children) was Roll the Ball.  The children had to use the pipes to move the ball along the course without it dropping on the floor.  The next was Battleships and the last was map reading around the school field.

The children thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon and the smiles on their faces confirmed this.  They said that they enjoyed, ‘Working with lots of different children and that is was so much fun.’

Thank you to the children for their energy and enthusiasm and thank you to all the parents who helped transport the children to and from the event.
