  • Girls' Football Tournament

Wed 19 Oct 2022 Mr Fallon

On Wednesday 19th October 2022, two girls' football teams walked to Histon Rec to compete in the first stage of a national football competition organised by the South Cambs Sports Partnership.  There were eighteen other teams involved from schools all over the area.

The Blue Team won their group in the morning winning all four of their games.  They scored ten goals and conceded none which is an excellent achievement. The White Team finished second in their group and they too did not lose a game or concede any goals.  Well done to them!

The Blue Team joined the winners' group and again remained unbeaten winning three of their games and drawing one with still no goals conceded.  This meant they won the whole competition and were worthy champions.

The White Team entered the second placed teams' group.  They did extremely well and remained unbeaten which meant they won the group and did not concede any goals.

The girls were fantastic on and off the pitch and we were so proud of the way they conducted themselves.  We would like to thank the parents/carers for their help and support on the day.

    Mr Fallon

  • HIBPS Friendship Colour Run

Wed 19 Oct 2022 Mrs Beal

This week in school we have been celebrating our Friendship Run, which is an in-school event as part of the School Games. During the week, we have been running, walking or jogging laps around the fields, Muga and playgrounds, focusing on the values of passion, determination, self-belief and teamwork. On Wednesday 19th October, as a whole school, we took part in a Colour Run celebrating these values and showcasing our Houses of Cedar, Beech, Birch and Maple. As a collective, so far this school year, we have run, walked or jogged all the way from Histon Brook Primary School to Lviv, Ukraine!

Well done the pupils and staff at HIBPS

  • Netball Tournament at Cottenham Village College

Thu 13 Oct 2022 Shona Inman

On Thursday 13th October, a group of Year 6 children attended a netball tournament at Cottenham Village College.  This was the first round of the tournament with the second round being played on the 7th March 2023.  At the end of both rounds, all teams will have played each other and a winner will be announced.

We entered two teams into the netball tournament and both teams were amazing.  They grew in confidence as the tournament progressed and improved their passing, footwork and knowledge of positions and shooting.  Some games were closer than others but, in every game both teams came away with wins.   What a great achievement for both teams and we were all very proud of their teamwork and determination.  All the children are looking forward to the next round of the competition – particularly as in this round the teams will play each other!!!!

Thank you to the parents that transported the children and who stayed to support.

  • Cambridge Science Centre Show

Mon 10 Oct 2022 Rosie Burns

On Monday, Years 3, 4 and 5, enjoyed a Cambridge Science Centre Show - Stronger by Design. This interactive show looked at the engineering behind some of the most amazing materials that keep us safe when we’re in danger. We looked at the super-strong fabrics that protect firefighters from heat and flames and explored how clothing can protect us from on-coming bullets and the hazards of dangerous sports. We even discovered that eggs won’t break, when dropped, if they’re in a bag of custard! It was fantastic to have the hall buzzing once again with lots of great scientific discussions!

  • Outdoor Adventure Activity Comberton Village College Thursday 6th October

Thu 06 Oct 2022 Shona Inman

    Outdoor Adventure Activity

On Thursday 6th October 2022, a group of Year 3 and 4 children travelled to Comberton Village College to participate in an Outdoor Adventure Activity event.  The event consisted of five different challenges: Human Battleships, Vortex Challenge, Map Reading, Teamwork Rollerball and Orienteering.

The children had to show determination when completing the activities and work as a team to do this efficiently.  The children were fantastic.   They worked hard together to achieve, and they were so enthusiastic about the whole event.  They were a pleasure to spend the afternoon with. Thank you to the parents who helped transport the children and for supporting them and thank you to Ms Devine for assisting too.
